The secret Split Pea Soup

Ingredients: 

    1 M - Lg  Onion Chopped
   
1-2 Tbsp Butter or Olive Oil 
   
1 clove Garlic
   
1-2  chopped Carrots
   
6 c Chicken Broth   
    16 oz Split Peas, Picked over and rinsed
    1 lb Ham (or 1 ½ lb Meaty ham bone) 
   
1 Tsp Slawsome Veggies
   
1 ½ Tsp Garam Masala


Instructions:

  1. Rinse and sort Split Peas in a colander, set aside to drain
  2. In a soup pot,saute Onions, Garlic, and Carrots in Butter or Olive oil until Onions are soft.
  3. Turn off heat, and stir in ham
  4. Add Split Peas, chicken Broth and spices to your pan, and stir.
  5. Cover and simmer for 1 – ½ hours until peas are tender
  6. Take off heat, and let sit for 10 minutes before serving
  7. Whisk Soup if desired to make a smoother texture.
