Posted by Natalie Jean on

I almost called it Stupid-simple, but there's absolutely NO stupid about it.

Seriously Simple Chili

Ingredients:

1 lb Ground (or cubed) Meat

1 small onion

1 can pinto (or your favorite) Beans

2 cans stewed tomatoes, or sauce

1 Tbsp Chili Bowl

Instructions:

In a medium dutch oven, brown meat and onion over high heat.

Reduce heat to medium, and, add tomatoes, and Chili Bowl.

Scrape up the brown bits on the bottom of the pan

Add beans, with liquid.

Let simmer, stirring occasionally until ground meat is fully cooked, or for about 30 minutes for cubed meat to allow the meat to tenderize.

Alternatives:

For a thicker chili:

Reduce the liquid from the first can of tomatoes (let simmer until it gets thick or evaporates, and Drain the beans.

~or~

Add a thickening agent: Traditionally, Masa Flour, but you can also use 1 oz of tortilla chips that have been finely ground in a food processor or clean coffee Grinder.
